Message from the President
Founded in April 2010, AALIMS reached a milestone at its third anniversary. As a sign of becoming an established organization, we have experienced our first “change of the guard.”
IRES to hold Graduate Student Workshop on June 1-3, 2012
03/21/2012
Advanced graduate students interested in the social study of religion are encouraged to apply. Students in economics, sociology, and political science are especially encouraged to apply, although applications from all disciplines will be considered.
This will be an intensive 2-3 day event. Students are expected to have complete papers to present as part of their preliminary dissertation work. Each paper will be presented to the entire workshop and will receive extensive comments from one of the attending faculty members.
There will be at least 7 professors from economics, sociology, and political science in attendance. Currently confirmed professors include Laurence Iannaccone (Chapman), Robbie Mochrie (Heriot-Watt), Gary Richardson (UC Irvine), Christopher Bader (Chapman), and Jared Rubin (Chapman).
Interested students should send a one-page proposal to Jared Rubin at jrubin@chapman.edu.
Proposals should include:
Student’s name
university affiliation
graduate advisor
email address
A 300-500 word summary of the student’s research agenda/work
Proposals are due April 20, 2012.
We will consider accepting graduate students who do not wish to present but merely wish to attend. Such students should still send a full proposal, but should indicate in their email that they wish to only attend.
IRES will cover an economy flight, hotel, and meals during the conference for all attendees.
