Renard Sexton is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Politics at NYU. I study violence, and interventions to reduce violence, in fragile countries like Afghanistan and South Sudan. He also does research on natural resources and conflict across the developing world, especially in Latin America.
Over the past five years he has also been a contributor to the Guardian, FiveThirtyEight, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Independent, Foreign Policy, HBS and URD, writing mostly on international politics.
Before academia, He worked for the United Nations, NGOs and for journalistic publications, namely in Switzerland, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and Ecuador.
