Allison Hartnett is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. She was a research fellow in the Middle East Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School and will be a post-doctoral fellow in the Yale Leitner Program on Political Economy starting in July 2018. Her dissertation examines how colonial property regimes laid the foundations for post-independence redistributive conflict in MENA. Her other research involves the political economy of state-building under authoritarian rule, including work on the development of Jordan's informal economy and historical legacies of repressive and participatory institutions across the region.
Allison holds a BA summa cum laude in Islamic Studies and History from Boston University and an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from St. Antony's College, Oxford University.
