Thomas Pepinsky is Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Cornell University, where he is also the Director of the International Political Economy Program and Associate Director of the Cornell Modern Indonesia Project. His research lies at the intersection of comparative politics and international political economy, with a special focus on the emerging market economies of Southeast Asia. He is the author of Economic Crises and the Breakdown of Authoritarian Regimes: Indonesia and Malaysia in Comparative Perspective (Cambridge University Press, 2009), as well as articles appearing or forthcoming in the American Journal of Political Science, British Journal of Political Science, Government and Opposition, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Democracy, Journal of East Asian Studies, World Politics, and other venues. He is the founding president of the American Institute for Indonesian Studies.
