Christopher Paik is Assistant Professor of Political Science at New York University Abu Dhabi. He received his B.Com from University of British Columbia, M.A. in Economics from University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in Political Economics from Stanford University. Prior to joining NYUAD, he was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University’s Empirical Studies of Conflict (ESOC) project. His research focuses on institutions, ethnicity, and violence from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Current projects include topics in social mobility and education, sources of enduring cultural differences and ethnic violence, and the application of geo-spatial statistics to the study of long-run economic growth.
