Alexandra Blackman is a 2019-2020 post-doctoral fellow at NYU-Abu Dhabi. In fall 2020, she will join Cornell University as an Assistant Professor of Political Science. Her research focuses on the politics of religion, historical legacies, and the development of Islamist and secular political ideologies in the Middle East. Her dissertation examines the role of colonization and settler colonial education in generating local Islamist and secular political identities in Tunisia. She has conducted fieldwork in Egypt, Tunisia, and France. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Stanford University.
